"Pupkin Spice" Dog Biscuits
As one of today's most popular fall flavor, you knew I just HAD to provide a pup safe option!
Ingredients:
1 Cup of Canned Pumpkin (Do not use pumpkin pie filling!)
2 1/2 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
2 Eggs
3 Tablespoons of Natural Peanut Butter (Make sure Xylitol and Birch Sugar are not in the ingredients! This is highly toxic to pups!)
3/4 Cups of Original Oats
1/2 Teaspoon of Kosher Salt
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Turmeric
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Ginger
1/2 Teaspoon of Ground Cinnamon
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat Oven to 350F
Mix all ingredients until everything is combined and the texture of Playdoh
Press the dough into your favorite molds or use a cookie cutter to get your desired shape and spread out on a cookie sheet. They don't expand much, but ensure they are not touching.
Bake in oven at 350F for 40-45 minutes, or until treats are hard and crunchy.
Let the treats cool to room temperature and let your pup enjoy!
Sweet Potato Dog Chews
This is definitely the easiest of all the recipes I'm going to share today, but boy do the pups love it!
Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes. Literally! That's it!
Cooking Instructions:
Turn oven on to it's lowest setting
Cut sweet potatoes into 1/2 inch thick slices
Grease your baking sheet. (I use Coconut Oil)
Put your baking sheet on the top rack and let them dry out over about 8 hours. Once done, they should have a similar texture as dried apples.
Alternatively, If you have a food dehydrator, you can use that to free up your oven!
Cranberry & Turkey Dog Treats
We're going to get a little more "classic" fall with this recipe! Turkey is high in protein, while Cranberries are high in antioxidants and great for bladder health (in both dogs and humans!)
Ingredients:
3 1/2 Cups of Whole Wheat Flour
1 Teaspoon of Baking Powder
1 Cup of Shredded Cooked Turkey
1 Cup of Dried Cranberries
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
1 Cup of Low-sodium Chicken Broth
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F and Prep your baking sheet
Mix all ingredients until your dough is the consistency of Playdoh. If it is too dry, add chicken Broth at 1 tablespoon at a time.
Knead your dough for 2-3 minutes, then roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with desired cookie cutter shapes.
Bake for about 25 minutes, or until treats are brown. Let cool before treating your pup!
